Clear Browser Cache

Step-by-step troubleshooting from a safe in-app refresh to a full browser site-data wipe.

Clearing Cache & Site Data

If batapp is misbehaving — stale data, missing items, layout glitches — there are three levels of cache clearing. Start with the safest option and only escalate if the issue persists.

LevelWhat it clearsWhat it keepsWhen to use
1. Soft Refresh (in app)Nothing — just re-fetches dataEverythingData looks stale or out of sync
2. Hard Refresh (in app)Local synced data (Replicache)Login, user settings, preferencesData is wrong, corrupted, or duplicated
3. Clear Site Data (browser)Everything — synced data, login, settings, preferencesNothing for batappNothing else worked; app won't load

Level 1 — Soft Refresh (safest)

In the app, go to Help → Refresh → Soft Refresh.

This pulls the latest data from the server without deleting anything locally. Safe to run at any time. Try this first.

Level 2 — Hard Refresh (in-app)

In the app, go to Help → Refresh → Hard Refresh.

This deletes batapp's local synced data cache and re-downloads everything from the server. Your login, user settings, and preferences (stored separately in browser localStorage) are not affected.

If you have pending unsynced changes, batapp will warn you and ask you to type REFRESH to confirm before proceeding.

Use this when records look wrong, duplicated, or out of date — not when the app itself won't load.

Note: A browser hard refresh (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R) is not the same thing. The browser shortcut only reloads page files (HTML/JS/CSS) — it does not clear batapp's local synced data or your settings.

Level 3 — Clear Site Data (last resort)

This is a last resort. It wipes everything for batapp from your browser — synced data, login session, user settings, preferences. You'll be signed out and the app will start fresh.

Any unsynced local data will be permanently lost. If you have changes that haven't synced to the server, they will be gone. There is no way to recover them.
